I recently bought a new Seagate 200gig hd and since I needed to format my current one, I decided to copy over the stuff from my old hd onto the new hd. After formatting the old one and reinstalling windows, everything works fine. However, when I connect the power to the new hd, the system hangs and doesn't do anything. I just see a blank screen as soon as i start up the computer. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

First, i formatted the second hd, which is a Seagate 200 gig while my computer was working fine. Then i just dragged over some movies or documents after it was done formatting. When i put in the second hd, i took out the jumper pin and left it alone so it was set to slave. Then i formatted the first hd while leaving the jumper settings the same.

What kind of hard drive is the original? There are some drives that must be jumpered properly when they are the master and there is a slave drive attached (like my Western Digital.)

Try all possible jumper combinations on the master.

Edit:

Why did you change the jumper setting on the new slave drive? It was working as a slave. You copied files to it from Windows. Why would you need to change it?
