the computer is stalling at "setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" - it just waits there for hour(s) - when it first goes into this I recieve two beeps - the motherboard is a kt7a-raid. I have tried installing from a bootdisk(s) and I still get the same errors. I had win98se working fine but I decieded to format over it to get rid of what seemed to be a ton of viruses (none of the av programs could get anything off).

any sugguestions?

Remove everything you don't need to install Win2k. Strip it down to the MB, Processor, RAM, HD, CD-ROM, and Video card and try to install then. If it works then some of your other hardware isn't compatible with Win2k. Check the Windows HCL Site and make sure all your hardware is compatible with Win2k or XP.

RAM, check your RAM. Ran into a the same problem a couple months ago on a friends machine. Turned out to be bad, horrible RAM.

When you install the OS, at the "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration screen",
press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver and load your Raid Drivers.
