First, if this is too off topic for this forum, going ahead and lock.

Secondly, looking for some computer speakers (2.1 or 5.1, doesnt matter) that are cheap, but of fairly good quality. Maximum I would like to pay would be $50.

I found a pair of Logitech Z2300's for $80CDN and they're the best PC speakers I've ever heard. Apparently they're the 2nd or 3rd best set in existence (in terms of 2.1's anyway).
 
For under $50, just pick any name brand and you're good to go. In the under-$50 bracket you're not going to find anything spectacular that really stands out from it's competition...but stick with the name brands.

I even did a $25-$50 search for you. 🙂

I've heard the Logitech Z2300's and thought they were a really decent set for the money.
