I need help finding a high-end 2.1 speaker speakers for my laptop. I've seen the Bose Companions and really liked the quality of the sound. I know you guys think Bose is the devil-incarnate poised to engulf the world in a over-priced thermonuclear war, so I was wondering if there are good 2.1s about that or better for about $200 or less. Thanks for the help.

cliffs-
need awesome sub-$200 computer speakers.

Thanks

EDIT: They have to be 2.1, cause they are for a laptop. And feel free to post any other or better solution for laptop speakers

Something like Klipsch promedia 2.1 would be a pretty standard option.

You could also do something like Swan M200 or some other similar pair of active monitors.

A small amp + bookshelf speakers could be another option.

Just echoing the Soundman's recommendation. I believe you can get refurbished i-Fi's direct from Klipsch for about $150 (I believe they're better than the Promedia 2.1).

Really you've got quite a bit of options, as you could always pick up something lik the Z-5300s and then just use two of the main speakers (or upgrade them). A T-amp and any number of bookshelf pairs would work too.

Hmm, I guess a couple of other questions might help us narrow down the recommendations. Do they need to be portable at all? What do you listen to (movies, music, games)?

Depending on your wants/needs headphones might make more sense (you can get some very nice headphones and/or an amp).

If those iFi sets come back in stock at $150, that's a great deal
