My Klipsch Ifi subwoofer finally stopped working after 8 years of service. Time to make a change. I'm thinking some kind of bookshelf speakers (although I could keep the stereo speakers for the time being -- they have standard connectors), a stereo amp, and a powered sub. Can you recommend some products? I like the idea of using the digital out from my motherboard. But analog could work too.

Thanks

Don't know if there is a Frys near you.

Something like this http://www.frys.com/ads/page25#AdNavi would be nice. I'd get the JBL towers with the Onkyo receiver or maybe the Onkyo/Infinity package. Will absolutely CRUSH any straight up computer speakers. No sub, though. W/full towers you might find you don't need them.

I bought t-class with sub pre-out for $80, a polk audio 10" sub for $70 and some polk audio bookshelf speakers for $150 and they will completely blow away pretty much any computer speaker system you can buy....they have t class amps with optical in out there as well...

found my thread on the t-class amp...
