Hey everyone, i just built this new comp about 4 months ago, and everything has worked fine until now. The other day, the power went out in my house and my comp was shut down. The next day, i booted back up, and everything about my computer had changed. It feels like everything is bogged down, running super slow, and at some points, it will literally just freeze for like 5-10 seconds before it begins working again. Anyone have any ideas on what could be going on? Are there any software tools i can run to see if one specific component is not working properly now? I really have no clue what to do, and i would appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

First thing you need to do is list your system components so we know what your working with. Next we need to know if the system was connected to a surge supressor at teh time? There is a good possibility that when the power went out and came back on that somthing could have been damaged.

There could be a number of things going on here. There may be problems with the software. A sudden shutdown may have left files damaged thus causing the slow down. The RAm could have taked an electric surge damaging one or more of the DIMMS. A run threw with Memtest 86+ will tell you if there are problems with the RAM. So try that and see what you come up with.

Ok i did a benchmark test on my system, and from what i'm seeing, the disk benchmark turned out horrible, so i'm assuming my hard drive is dying? don't know too much about this stuff but here you go if you can make any sense of it.

Then try a new HDD.

FYI. When people ask for a list of system specs they are looking for the brand and model of the following items:
CPU
Motherboard
RAM
Video card
PSU
Any additional cards in the system
Drives (optical and HDD)
