computer shutting down?

hello, i'm having a little problem with my computer. It would ramdomly shut down whenever i'm surfing the internet. I tried formatting it and installing a fresh copy of windows xp but the problem still occurs. can anyone help? Thanks in advance

You might want to list your computer specs and how old some of the componets are. Plus how long has it been acting up etc...

nvidia geforce 6600GT

the system worked perfectly fine for about 2-3 years then started to shutdown on its own last week.
