Computer shutting down during games

Hi,

I have an issue with my computer since a few days. It was working fine for almost a year and now every time I play a game it shuts down after a few minutes. No video signal, no response of any kind but the fans are still on.

I tried with other parts. I changed the psu, memory, cpu, motherboard, case (yeah I'm a little desperate) and nothing worked. I can't try another graphic card because my second motherboard has a G31 chipset and I can't decently run my games on it for a try.

At this point I don't have much to blame except for the graphic card but I tried to make it crash with a stress test (furmark) and it ran 2 hours without any problem.

The original computer:

Core 2 Duo E8400
Asus P5B Deluxe
OCZ Gold-Series XTC 2x1GB (DDR2-1100)
Point of View 8800GT
Corsair CMPSU-450VXEU
Noctua NH-U12P
Windows XP Sp3

The actual configuration

Core 2 Duo E4300
Asus P5KPL-VM (G31)
G.Skill 2x1GB Azure (DDR2-800)
Point of View 8800GT
Trust 420W PSU
Intel stock cooler
Windows XP Sp3

Nothing is overclocked.
Both configurations are rock stable for anything but games. I tried Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead and Mirror's Edge and every time the computer shuts down after 10 to 30 minutes.

Help! :(

Sounds like an overheating issue to me. Download Prime 95 and run a Torture Test using 'In-place large FFTs' which you'll note says maximum heat. See if it craps out on you like games do.

Seems to be overheating. The graphic card's fan was making strange noise (I couldn't hear it with the case closed) and after some torture with my finger it run more smoothly. I played left 4 dead for 2 hours without any problem.

It'll give me a good excuse to change that "old" 8800GT.

Thanks a lot!
