Computer shuts off while playing games

I started having a really strange problem after upgrading my video card.. My computer shuts off and reboots while playing some video games. It happens while playing Mass Effect and rarely while playing TF2. The occurrence is random but usually within 10 minutes in Mass Effect (some areas of the game are worse than others.) When the error occurs, the computer immediately shuts off and reboots without displaying an error message. No entries are generated in the event log related to the crash. Also, disabling auto restart on system failure does not allow me to see any error message. As far as I can tell, the thing just shuts off.

As mentioned, this problem started up after replacing my ATI x1800xt with an eVGA 9800 GXT+. While this problem screams power supply, I'm pretty sure it's fine as I was previously running 6 harddrives and an 80% overclock 100% stable. I'm now just running two drives and stock processor speed. At this point, I'm kind of thinking defective video card. Thoughts?

Hardware:
Core 2 Duo E6300
ASUS P5K-E mobo
2 GB corsair DDR-1066
eVGA 9800 GXT+ 512M (w/ latest drivers)
Audigy 2 Zs
2x harddrives
Thermaltake 650W P/S
XP Pro (w/ latest updates)

Overheating? Are you monitoring the temps on the new card?

Otherwise maybe drivers. Try cleaning all the video drivers off and installing a known stable driver release from a few months ago.

The symptom described is a classic reaction to over heating in the vid card. Try it with the side cover off and a small room fan blowing directly into the case.

I checked the temperature utility. It says the card is running at 55-65C which is within EVGA's normal range of operation. I also tried it with a fresh install of vista. I'm pretty well out of options, so I'm just going to RMA the card.
