I'm having a problem with my system. The system shuts down for no reason. I than restart it and everything is ok. I'm running windows xp service pack 1. The apps that run on this system are vmware I have 3 win2k servers installed and 1 2k pro workstation. I also run office 2003 profession and sql server enterprise edition. The hardware components are epox hkha board, 1 gig of ddr 2100 ram, 1900 xp, plextor burner, and pioneer dvd. I've checked the event logs on the system and this is what I found yesterday.

I checked in the log today after the reboot but nothing was logged. Can someone please tell me whats going on.

Hmmm, this is just a wild shot in the dark, but in the BIOS > Advanced Chipset Features, ensure that System BIOS Cacheable is set to Disabled. Also, it may be worth running Memtest86 on the RAM to see if it comes up with errors.

Its an enermax I've had it for about 2 years. Do you think I should keep running the system until it just stops working completely.

it can be alot of reasons from hardware prob' to software, it takes a pro to figure out your prob'. However try to install the software from scratch and see what happens.

in the same boatwith another system... yea, easiest thing to do is hope windows is hosed and do a reinstall.

I just recalled that some mornings I have to press the power button twice to get the system to come on. So what do you guys think.

Maybe your power supply is failing. If you replace it, pick a respected brand (Enermax, Antec, Sparkle Power, etc) and not a trash-in-a-box one 😀 Also look the board over for any bulging/leaking capacitors, and don't forget the tip I gave above.

The power supply I have is an enermax. Do yoy know the warrenty on these things. I'm going to contact them Monday and try to set up a rma.

The system just shut down agin expect this time. I pressed the start button it came on but no video. I pressed the button again same result no video. I than left it alone for about 4 minutes I than booted up and recieved video. I looked on enermaxes website they are over seas does anyone know of a us branch where I can rma to.
