Computer shuts down when reformatting ?? what the..

This is probably one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. I'm reformatting my cousin's computer.. so I boot the WinXP CD, it detects the hard drives.. I choose the hard drive, delete partition, and start formatting.. and boom, the computer just shuts down by itself.

I tried again.. booted up, and this time when I hit "L" for confirm delete partition, it shut down right away.

So, any ideas on what would be causing this? Whatever it is, it's a major prob.. I'm guessing maybe it's the power supply? (it's an Antec PSU, came w/ the case)

That happened me actually, just a week and a day ago. It happened twice so I just kept going in and deleting partitions, repartitioning and trying to format again. Third time lucky, I guess, because I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it is that caused it. No hard drive problems or PSU problems since. Hoping it was just one of those things.

Hm, ok.. I'll keep trying. Though this definitely isn't normal and it's something that should be taken care of..

Heh.. CPU fan wasn't spinning 😉 CPU temp was 126C. Wow. Amazingly, the system still seems to work just fine.. gotta love AMD.
