computer shuts down when playing any video game

here's the story

I open a game, counterstrike, css, final fantasy, and my computer will black out. the cpu fan is still running, but not hard drive activity, no video.

I did a lot of t/s'ing, switched psu's (not the problem), switched the video cards out (problem)

I switched outmy x800xt with a ti4200, and i'm able to run games fine.

I place my x800xt in another pc, try to start counterstrike up, and immediately, I get the same problem with no hdd activity and the screen goes black.

i can run windows fine, but I seem to only have this problem when I try ot run games.

I've used four sets of drivers. both omega and standard ati drivers to no avail. I've reseated the GPU fan using AS5 to no avail. I'm stumped.

ideas would be much appreciated as I do not have much money to buy a nicer card and I would like to keep this card for it's tv tuner properties.

has any one heard of this issue before?

I've heard that those run hot. I would say that if the card is not under warranty then there isn't really much you could do short of re solder something back on or soldering on a new component and I don't think anyone here would be able to tell you which one it is.

From what you've said there isn't any software fix that is going to work for you, the hardware in the card is bad. Sorry to deliver the news but the cards 3d capabilities are gone. If you are under warranty still get an RMA to replace the card.
