Hello all, I've been having a problem with my system lately where it will just shut down at random points during the boot sequence. Sometimes it will get as far is the Windows/Ubuntu login screen(depending on which I'm booting) other times it won't even last for 2 seconds after I hit the power button. We've tested what we can by removing unnecessary pieces of hardware, such as my videocard and wireless adapter, we've tested several different power supplies, harddrives and even the ram. All yielded the same result, the system would still fail during boot. Eventually we decided that it had to be an issue with my motherboard, so I ordered a new one, also got new power supply for the hell of it and borrowed a friends videocard. Even with an almost entirely new system, it still fails. All that remains from my old system is the processor, ram, and harddrive(we've tested the HDD in other systems with out any problems). I am fairly certain the problem lies within one of these devices, unless I was just unlucky enough for my new motherboard to crap out on me as well. Before I go dish out several hundred dollars to replace the aforementioned pieces of hardware, I was hoping for some input from others. If anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem is(I don't even really know if a faulty processor could cause something like this) or knows of a way that I may be able to fix it without new hardware, or even just some ways to test and determine exactly where the problem is, please let me know. I thank everyone in advance for their assisstance.
