Hi,

I currently have just builf a new computer. Runs great. There is only one problem--when I shut it down through Windows, it does not completely shut off.

The HDD and Power LEDs shut off, but the back fan remains on, and the front case LEDs stay on as well.

This had not happened every time--Only some of the time.

I have an EpoX Motherboard for A64, and an Antec Sonata case. I can get more information for you at a later time if it helps.

Also running XP Home.

I'm thinking it's a problem with the power switch connector into the motherboard, since when I was fooling around in there it seemed to work the next night, but it could have just been a coincidence. Anyone know anything about this kind of issue? Thanks.

Things to check:

Hold the POWER BUTTON IN for 4 seconds.
If the PC powers down it is more than likely connected correctly.

Check which HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) is installed (ACPI, APM, etc..)
To check, go to START \ SETTINGS \ CONTROL PANEL \ SYSTEM and click the HARDWARE tab
then Device Manager button. Click the + next to 'Computer'

In the BIOS, make sure the 'use Soft-Off by PBTN' is set to "Instant-Off'.
It is located under POWER MANAGEMENT in the BIOS.
