I was using my computer, stepped away for a moment, and then I heard it beeping. I come back and it won't come on. It just beeps. It's a long beep (1-2 secs.) followed by about the same amount of silence, and then the beep repeats.

I've tried a different video card, I've tried unplugging everything, and still nothing.

The power supply smelled kind of funny, like possibly a burnt smell, so I swapped that out, and the same beep occurs. I'm guessing the smell is just from dust. I couldn't smell it until I put my nose right next to it.

I'm guessing motherboard at this point, the chipset fan does not spin on the motherboard, but I had previous problems with it making noise, so who knows how long it's been dead.

The power supply appears to be operating normally, it will make the lights come on and the fans spin up, but no display comes up.

I wanted another opinion before I bought a new motherboard.

THANKS!

Reset the CMOS jumper to reset the motherboard. Take the ram out and just plug in 1 stick for now. Then try the other stick. If neither of these scenarios work you'll probably have to swap components to figure out what possibly went dead.

Check the mb, memory and cpu to see if anything looks burnt. If you have some extra memory try it.
