Computer shopping in Hong Kong?

Hi,

I will be visiting Hong Kong in the middle of July, I plan to do my upgrade there...

I am currently running a 3.4ghz prescott and Abit AG8 with 1 gig Corsair PC3500
Will be looking at either a A64 3800+ with a NF4 mobo and keep the RAM

OR...

Keep the CPU and buy an Intel 955X mobo and buy new DDR2 memory (my cpu is one of the first 800FSB prescotts)

However I am going off track here, any websites that I can keep up to date with local pricing and availability? Pricewatch for HongKong if you will?

Cheers!

I thought they couldn't get good cpu's in china because of technology trade restrictions... why do you want to upgrade there anyway? It's not gonna be any cheaper if that's what you're thinking. Prolly have to buy your stuff on the black market and smuggle it out 🙂.

Well buying in Finland with 22% sales tax on top of our already silly prices, I think it will work out cheaper.

The big question though (as you pointed out) is why to upgrade, I guess I just feel as though I have to because I am there 😀

I think Hong Kong has different laws than for the mainland China (if such a law exists anyway)

Thanks for the reply!

I would have thought any law differences would have "expired" when the UK's lease ran up, and it was turned back over to the Chinese.

nah, that's why you see S.A.R. after Hong Kong. Hong Kong S.A.R. (Special Administrated Region) or something along those lines.

If you are searching the net for stuff in China, don't put 'freedom,' 'democracy,' or 'human rights' in your search for computer parts 🙂.
