I have a friend who has a E-Machine...He has a 2 gig harddrive and all the sudden his cd-rom wont show up. Its like someone spilt something on it.(likely, he has 3 sisters and who knows) Before he plays TAPS and makes a grave for it, is there anything he can check in his OS to see if someone removed or turned off his CD-ROM?! Im stumped, went over there to give him a demo on a CD-R and it said D: Drive not found. First thought it was just the CD-R, but nope. i tried his system disk in the cd-rom, no luck. Anyone have a suggestion..? 😕

have you checked the system properties? i assume he has windows 98 or so... just right click MY COMPUTEr and select Properties. Then click the devices tab... hit the plus beside CDROMS ... whats listed... when you click properties on the cdrom(if its listed) does it say DEVICE IS WORKING PROPERLY

i hope this made sense to you...

heh ya it did but unfortunatly he doesnt know LOL he is only like 12 or so and he doesnt know wtf he is doin LOL and its to late tonight so id like a handful of topics before i go to his machine that takes a good 10 min to startup heh...
