A computer i built (1.4ghz athlon on an EpoX 8k7a with an Ati Xpert 2000 runnin Windows XP) was left sitting for 10-15 minutes. When we came back, the monitor had turned to blue and was making a humming noise. The monitor is pretty damn old, used to run it on a 100mhz rig. Tried unplugging it, turning off the power to it, all that jazz (short of turning the system off, theres work we need to save). Do i need to buy a new monitor?? Personally, im thinkin it could have something to do with the sleep mode in XP, maybe that it told the monitor to go in standby and couldnt handle the request. Anyone know???

Thanks in advance.!

The only way to really know what is gonig on is to plug the monitor into another computer or another monitor into your computer (that the monitor went wonky on.)

trying to arrange that as we speak... My friend might be bringing one by, the 19" beast im using in here aint budgin. 🙂

Thanks

Restarted the computer, i can see DOS ok (i.e. boot sequence) and then the Windows XP loading. As soon as it gets past that, it goes blue. Any ideas????
