Did a fresh install of windows XP. Updated it from SP2 to SP3 with all the other updates. Running perfect until the monitor just goes black/standby. Monitor works fine, checked it on my laptop.
I booted the computer without the NIC/each of the 4 memory sticks/etc and it continues to do this. The only things I havent tried is replacing the power supply and trying a different video card.
The computer is running fine while this happens. I was able to use keystrokes to shutdown the computer. If I use keystrokes to restart, the monitor works again, but will go black after 1-2 minutes at the desktop.
The PC is a P4 3.2/4gb ram/700x ATI vid card. Its a Medion desktop.
On a side note, I thought 32 bit systems can recognize 3.5gb.....i have 4 1gb sticks but the computer only shows 2.75
