Computer running hot

The heatsink is working fine. Could it be the power supply?

I think the heat is what caused my one stick of memory to go kaput.

Whats the proper cpu temp in Farenheit.

Proper CPU temp in C? Anywhere from 0 to 60. You might run stable as high as 80, but it's not recommended. What are you running at now?

EDIT: Oops, I was talking about Celsius temps. Doh. Fahrenheit temps can be up to 140 F, but might run stable as high as 180 F.

80 degrees Farenheit?

I checked one time and i was at like 100+.

I have an anthlon 1300. Maybe it is the heatsink.

full system specks would make it alot easier to find a problem what board, cards, drives, case, fans, heatsink, your useing. what bus and clock speed do you have the chip at, are the system and proccesor bus running synchronous or asynchronously. what did you use between the cpu and the heatsink paste or tape?
