I have a rather strange problem with my machine rebooting when I open Internet Explorer. I thought it was a problem with IE 5.0 so last night I downloaded 5.5 off Microsoft's web site. It didn't help. Sometimes it reboots when I log on the Internet before my home page loads, other times it reboots 2 to 3 minutes after being on line. It doesn't seem to have a problem with any other software, and the system is otherwise stable. It is not overclocked.

My System

K6III-400 ( not a + )
Gigabyte GA5AX
Voodoo 3-2000 PCI
Sound Blaster 16 bit PCI Sound Card
Zoom PCI modem
Asus 40X
Teac 4x4x32 Burner
128 meg PNY PC100 SDRAM
Windows 98SE ( with normal product upgrades from Dollar Bill's site )

Any ideas?
Thanks,
kevin

Guess my problem was too boring, or too easy to answer. It just drifted away in the Anandtech Forums. I keep thinking there has to be someone in "the best forum on the net" who would reach high enough to respond, or stoop low enough to humor me. This is a real problem that is getting passed by. Did I not supply enough system info? The problem is exactly as stated. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

First thing I'd look at is modem and network protocols. Check for modem resource conflict - would likely do best in PCI slot 2 or 3. Before moving any hardware, first remove in Device Manager and reinstall in new position, else win9x gets confused about what's in the motherboard. Use latest driver from Zoom site. Remove and reinstall DUN and networking protocols. Post results.
