when that happened to me it turned out to be a PSU problem with a generic PSU I was using at the time...as of now..it could be any number of things!

Does it always happen or it just happened once? Were you doing heavy computing, i.e. multi-tasking with a lot of programs opened? Are you oc'ing? If it just happened once then it could be a software glitch. If it happens everytime while you are doing heavy computing, then it could be overheating or power problem. But with your PSU I doubt it is PSU related. If you are oc'ing then you need to lower the settings and see if the re-starting happens again.

I had something similar and it turned out to be a virus. Regardless of the reason, you can learn more information by turning off "Automatic Restart" in Windows.

Right-click my computer and click properties (or go to the System applet in Control Panel), click on the Advanced tab, click Settings and uncheck "Automatically restart". This will result in blue screening instead of restarting, so you'll get an error code and maybe a dll filename for whatever caused the crash.

You may also want to write a memory dump (Kernel is a good option, as small may not contain enough info, and complete will be huge and is likely unnecessary), if this continues. The memory dump helps Windows determine if others have seen the same error, and in my case was even able to diagnose the problem and propose a solution for me!

i'd put my bets on the dfi motherboard. i had that same motherboard with the same ram. ram was good as i tested mb with diff ram and was still bad and tested ram on another computer. motherboard gave me multiple problems. will never buy DFi again. i guess thats what people get for buying a second tier motherboard. i'd say RMA the board if u can and get another asap. preferably asus, the only 95%+ stable reliable motherboard company on the market. if not, i'd say boot into windows, reformat hard drive. turn off, reset cmos battery for 24 hours, boot into bios, set to boot on cdrom first, insert windows Xp disk, and reinstall windows, thats what i recommend and i've used those same parts as you (ram & mb). went asus and will never buy dfi until they raise their standards

right now it set at small memory dump (64kb). Should I set it as kernal memory dump? Again i'm a newbie, and not very technical when it comes to computers.

If the system use to work fine until this last event of re-starting, it's most likely a software problem which means, adaware, spyware or virus. Anyways, ran a malware cleaner (Spyware sweeper is one of the best out there with free 30 day trial). And then ran a registry cleaner (JV16 also has a 30 day trial). A registry cleaner does not make your system faster instead it makes it more stable by getting rid of clutter entries or dead ended entries in the registry. Ran disk cleaner and then defrag. Let us know what happens.

Well i have zone alram, Ad aware SE pro, norton preimere 2005, nod32. No virus or malware. I think its my memory. I ran a test and I got a error. I have the latency set on auto which is 2-3.5-5-2. I ran memtest a while ago for 7 hrs with no error. So what gives? Then I have printer hp psc 750 all in wonder and mx1000 laser mouse and my damn computer is not reconizing those as well. I have a mx3000 combo which works fine. I have xp pro w/sp2. They should be reconized auto. I'm going to take a damn hammer and start smashing away because I hate this computer. So far all this damn new pc has giving me a is problems. Since i'm a newb i dont know what to do.

So with the rams set at SPD or auto it is stable? Leave the rams in auto for now. As for the MX1000 laser mouse and printer, try a manual hardware installation. If you think it's taking too much of your time and patience to make the sytem work, recommend RMA the mobo and just get an Asus. With an Asus you cannot go wrong.
