Well i got 2x512 of samsung ram to replace my 2x256 of kingston in dfi infinity. I plugged teh new ram in and tried to boot it up but the machine didnt want to, it appears as though there is a incompatiblilty between a DFI and samsung pc3200 for some reason(cause ram worked and passed memtest on a ecs nf2 mobo). I changed back to the kingston that worked before and now when i get to thescreen were windows loads the computer just restarts. I thought that this might be the vid card but i dont think so as i tired to but on a zalman but stopped halfway and went back to stock coling. ALso could it be the bios? What is the most likely? Any help would be good. I did clear teh bios too. ALso when i thought that windows may have corrupted and that i should reinstall it so i tried that and when it got to the point where windows should start to boot it restarted just the same. ANy hwlp would be very much appreciated.

549 posts and you still don't know to give us a full spec list when you need troubleshooting help. Tsk tsk ;) What-all is your rig made out of, including the brand/model of power supply AND your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Bubble gum ice cream?! No wonder your Windows installation is corrupted! :D Switch to Cookies & Cream. ;) Also bump your memory voltage to 2.7 volts, and manually lock the memory's bus speed to the CPU's bus ("Sync" or "100%" in the BIOS menus, usually). Then try this approach to Windows repair, since it sounds like your Windows installation simply got corrupted:

 • Boot from your Windows CD
 • It starts Setup and asks if you want to Repair or do a fresh install. At this point, pretend you want a fresh install.
 • Let Windows Setup get going and it will look at the hard drive and ask what partition you want your installation on. Tell it C:\ and it will say there's an existing Windows installation and would you like it repaired? And say yes to the Repair this time, and see if it gets that ironed out :) Your apps and data should survive, and Windows will refamiliarize itself with the hardware.
Good luck! :)

Did you bump up your memory voltage and sync it to the CPU's FSB yet? That might help.

Also, if I understand correctly, you did something to your video card's heatsink. Removed it, or ?? If the problems continue, also try a different video card if possible.

Could you tell us what type of RAM your motherboard manufacturer recommended? ECC/Non, Registered/Non? 400Mhz, 500, 333? Etc.

How about just resetting the CMOS and have the ram set at the loosest timings and see if it boots?

Could be a too aggressive ram timings causing issues.

Or just set it to auto-detect ram and set FSB at 333.

Powersupply was just fine prior to this (about 12.01 under load) but i cant check its output right now as i lack another rig. YOu have almost the exact same rig as me and mine wont work with the ram at all, neither stick likes it. Well this really sucks
