Computer remote control

I want to control a computer from another room. I've got a A/V transmitter so I can sent audio and video (aka mp3s and DVDs) from my computer to the setup in the living room. Now I'm looking for a way to control the computer from the living room, as cheaply as possible. Any suggestions? If I got a wireless mouse/kb, could I run extension cables from the computer to the living room and then put the wireless receiver in there or would the cable be too long (100-150 feet)

 
if you are going through walls, you need RF (radioFrequency) rather than IR (InfraRed) remote.

i think the ATI RF remote will work for any system, yeah it will, $50

that is what i use remote wonder
