computer related career?

Well I've decided I need to get a degree to get out of the retail hell I'm stuck in now. However my boss is a total jerk and will not let me have a particular night off for night classes, I need to be 100% open for him to schedual me.

I've decided that I want some sort of computer related field, however I'm not to sure which area I should go into. I can't go job hunting and trying different things because I have a family to support and health insurance is a MUST.

I found a program Computer Information Systems at a community college in the state I'm in that offers the program online. http://www.distance.minnesota.edu/visitors/tech/com_info_sys/

Would this be a decent program to give me a general overview so after I get my AS degree i can find a particular area I like best to finish my bachelors degree.

Does your boss have a boss? Talk to him/her about the unreasonable demands on your time, especially if you're trying to upgrade skills and better yourself. <I give your boss the finger from afar>

From a quick glance that program looks decent enough to give you a broad introduction to the field, and if it lets you work at your own pace all the better.

yes my boss (Store manager) has a boss (district manager) and in the company there is an 'open door policy' which states if i have an issue i can goto anyone, but i've seen someone do it before, and although this person didn't get fired, the job became not so great.
