Computer Refuses to get past windows screen

Long Story Short. I tried to turn on my computer, it wouldn't get past Windows Boot Screen. I restart, same thing. I left it on for a while on the boot screen, and all it did was reboot. I tried to get into safe mode, but it keeps freezing and rebooting at "mud.sys"/"mup.sys" (I don't remember which, I'm at work now), same thing with sfae mode command line, and command mode with networking.

I tried to repair my partitions using my XP cd, but the repair console froze while checking on my E drive, which is probably the problem. However, thats where all my programs are, so I am hesitant to delete its partition.

This has actually occured once before, but at that time, the computer somehow started up chkdsk and everything worked fine after that.

Anyone know what is happening and how to fix it? I think the E drive might be dying, but it was working prefectly fine when I shut down before this happened. Also, is there a way to froce chkdsk to run without safe mode?

Okay, I think I've isolated the problem.

I got chkdsk working and I checked every disk except my 120 gigabyte drive. Apparently, the partition on it is corrupt. This leads to my next question

Is there a way to save the partition? Its my programs drive so If I lose it, its a bit of a problem.

Yup,

How many drives do you have? If you have just one do you have an external harddrive?
Or do you have a flash disk or jump drive?

Yes very helpful. If you don't mind reinstalling then I would unplug the IDE cable from the harddrive. Then reinstall.

If you have a second PC then download BartPE.

If you have any data on the drive you want to get off and copy it to the other drive, then you will want to use BartPE.

I would Google. With that CD you should be able to run chkdsk. You may also look into Ultimate Boot CD. I think that?s the name. Google that as well. It?s very easy to make and you may want to keep it for later use.

Post back if it doesn?t or does help. I can think of a few other suggestions if you?re interested.

Thats for the suggestiopns.

However, I've been trying to avoid reinstalling anything. I don't really have too much time to just sit there and reinstall things >.>

Is there anyway I can just fix the partition?

Okay, sorry for another double post.

I used bart PE, and within it, apparently, my E drive is corrupt, and so nothing works on it at all. I thought it might be completley dead, but windows setup still reads it, however, it reads it as completely empty.... And also, I have 2 partitions on that drive, and the second one works fine.

Now I'm just stuck

Is there a way to use system recovery or something from BartPE? I'm wondernig if that can get me back..assuming I didn't disable it

Is there a way I can avoid that?... Cause I have a couple of files I want to save, and I'm want to be sure there is a way to save them without using money.

I can't. It won't let me access it. That was the entire point of me asking how to recover the partition

Try running GetDataBack on the drive to see what it says about the files on the partition. You will probably still have to reinstall some programs, but if the drive is still functioning at all you should be able to recover a good portion of the files.

"Please note: Installing HDHost or any other programs on the drive you want to recover from, can cause data on that drive to be overwritten. The Price: $79"

$80 and it may just make the problem worse.

Install the free version (here) on a drive other than the one with problems and let it scan the E: drive to see what it can find. If the files are all recoverable, then the cost of the full version (that will let you recover the files) may be worthwhile. If it cannot read the files then you haven't lost anything except a little bit of time running the scan.

Just one more question, if I wipe my programs drive, do I also have to wipe my Main Windows Drive?

If Barts PE didn't work, you might want to try Ubuntu.... Not too sure it will read the drive, but worse you might be out of another cd..
