Hello all, I have been trying to figure out what to do with some older working hardware, broken hardware, large amounts of foam peanuts, boxes of all sizes, enclosures for cpus, anti static bags, etc...

I dont mean to say i have a lot, but i have a decent amount of stuff like this that takes up a decent amount of space in my house and well i need to get rid of it in some GOOD way since i like recycling or reusing stuff, but i really dont know what to do with this stuff!!!

Some parts i hear you could try taking out the gold connectors which are 10k gold i think, but what about the rest?
I may have also some old working hadware like 386s/486s but what could i do with them usefully?
Do you think i could sell those anti static bags?

Well, as you can see I am just looking for ideas or opinions or your own personal solutions as to how to manage all computer related "debris" 😉 Lets keep our earth clean 🙂 Thanks in advance.

Sell the bags on the forums here.

Old computers are not really worth harvesting the gold, etc. out of them because the process costs more than what you get.

The cardboard you should be able to recycle somewhere.

Most private mail places will take the packing peanuts off your hands. Some of the mail places will take the large pieces of styrofoam off your hands too, one place I asked said to just throw it in his recycle bin behind his store.

The smaller computer parts you can usually take to a computer recycle place for a small fee. The fee to recycle a whole case/computer is only like $10, but they want more for a monitor. Whether they actually recycle them or not is another story, but it made me feel good taking my stuff there anyway.

wow! they take styrofoam? GREAT! I've always felt horrible for throwing away the huge amount of styrofoam that comes with my parts

Sometimes you can even convince someone who's into crafts to take at least some of your styrofoam peanuts. Seem to be rather popular in vases.

Personally, I'd hang onto at least some of your anti-static bags. They don't take up much room and you never know when someone's going to give you a board or hard drive that you need to store for a bit.

If your hardware includes old laptops and the like you can piece the components out on ebay. You'll get more separately than the whole unit is worth. Notebook power supplies especially but the screens and keyboards can bring a decent sum too.
