Computer reboots when opening the DVD tray

I built a computer for my mom last year and she is starting to have this weird problem that when she hits the button to open the dvd tray the computer will reboot sometimes

Here are the specs

GIGABYTE GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H AM3 AMD 785G mobo
Athlon II X3 435 Rana CPU
Enermax liberty 500W modular PSU
6GB Patriot memory PC10666 (I bought this by mistake for my computer and decided to use it for hers, should have just used 4 instead of 6)
LG multi DVD writer
Windows 7 home premium 64bit

No dedicated sound or video card as she uses the on-board video and sound, nothing is OC'd

I'm really at a loss and any help would be appreciated.

See if the problem exists when the tray is opened using the My Computer/right click and select EJECT. That should open the tray. If that causes a reboot, then the problem lies within the optical drive tray mechanism. If it does not reboot and it opens, then the problem is a short in the external button switch. May be time to replace the drive.

Thanks for the tip corky, they can open the drive from My Computer without a problem. I told them to replace the dvd drive. Thanks again
