Computer reboots when I run a few games.

So my computer reboots when I run Quake IV and Fable. Now to be honest, they were cracked. I bought Fable for my girlfriend and installed it on both computers so we could play together. I borrowed Quake IV from a friend. Now since then I have reapplied the original EXEs to both games and got Fable disk from my girlfriend and found Q4 in a bargin bin. I have even re-installed Q4 fresh and it still reboots my computer. I've heard that installing Futuremark products also installs something called Ringo or Starforce that is causing the problem. Is there a way to remove that app? I have already uninstalled 3DMark06. Any other suggestions?

Specs:
MSI Nforce 4
Athlon64 3000+
1gb Corsair XMS
RadeonX800 XL
Audigy2
40gb Maxtor (OS)
80gb WesternD
320gb WesternD
MSI DVD ROM
Sony CD-RW

I think that it might be a heat related or driver issue. Try turning off automatic restart in computer properties to see the "blue screen of death" error code, if there is one.

I don't think it is a heat problem considering I run Olbivion for hours and FEAR aswell with no troubles. Plus my Radeon is double slotted cooling and has it's own intake. And I have a arge case with 2 80s in and 2 80s out. But I will try that and report back.

edit: I turned off the auto restart and Q4 still rebooted. Also I installed the lastest patch for Q4. No error code screen.

While we appreciate your honesty, we aren't likely to help you either (sorry, god knows whats on that box is your using cracks and pirated ware).

Well perhaps you didn't read further on. They are legit installs now, and still don't work. I bought Fable. And don't pretend like you don't borrow games from time to time.

Yea, but they werent and unless you nuked that box, as I said god knows whats on there. And no, I don't 'borrow' games from time to time. I sell commercial software and I sue pirates.

So sue me. I run a pretty tight machine. Never crashes, never locks up. Same install of WindowsXP Pro for 5 years. And anyway my machine is clean because I am no pirate. I don't live on wareez sites, I dont' even use them. You probably think I'm a horrible person. You could just offer some help and stop trying to be my moral center.

I guess our definitions are different for never crashes...

Well I'm sorry for assuming you were smart enough to realize that I meant that it never crashes until I had this problem. Or nice enough to understand. I'm sorry for overestimating you.

Thanks. I'll try that. Yeah it must be Ring0. I found several other forums were people have had this issue. And no one could help but some people mentioned Starforce and Ring0.
