Computer Reboots and SSD is not Found

Hey all,

Well I just fixed one issue but it seems I have another. So far my machine has rebooted itself twice. I was not there for either time and was not using the computer.

Each time it has happened it can not restart because it doesn't see the SSD which is my primary drive. Powering off for a few and starting up again will get it going but I'd like to stop this.

So far what I've tried:

  • Turned off Hibernation
  • Updated the firmware on my SSD to 2.08 (I see that there is a 2.09 so may try that if this continues)
  • Run memtest and let it run all night. No errors
  • Ran prime95 and let it run for hours. No problems.
  • Checked Event Log and saw nothing but messages saying the previous shutdown was unexpected blah blah blah.
This one is hard to pin down as I can't just replicate it. Use the computer all day, heavy load no problems. Go to sleep, computer idle and wake up to it having rebooted itself and unable to find the SSD.

I suggest you back everything up while you still can. Sounds very familiar to what many people are getting with OCZ drives

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? Are there any BIOS updates for your motherboard that might address these issues?
The CMOS was reset due to me disabling legacy USB in the bios and having it no longer recognize my keyboard so I couldn't get into the bios. Looking at the bios updates now but don't really see anything that would address the problem and I'm wary of just upgrading my bios just because.

Oh great. Not what I wanted to hear. I love the speed of that drive but I didn't read any of these issues before I bought it. Well hopefully they'll fix it or I can return it. The only thing I have on it are programs and games so no real need to backup anything.

Looks like firmware 2.09 did the trick. No BSODs and the computer has been up and running and stable for 3 days and 12 hours.
