Computer reboots after finishing starting windows

I just purchased some corsair ram CMX512-3200S to be exact. I am running the ram in sync and I am wondering what is causing my system to reboot after the system starts up in to windows. I have the system overclocked to 3.5GHZ, I know most people would say do I have enough voltage? Yes I do, 1.65 Core Using an ABIT IC7-G Mobo with a P4 2.8C and I have 2.7Volts going into the ram. Also some would say "just lower clock speed" but my system ran fine before I got better corsair ram because I wanted to run it in SYNC. So should I increase my voltage or what? Also I noticed before I got the new ram when my system hit 50-52C it would crash in Prime95 but when I kept below that I wouldnt. So my question is, do all systems crash at 50C+ or should it be stable but get hotter. Because I have a thermal sensor on the HSF and because the CPU doesnt reach 55C, it doesnt run at full speed which forces me to disconnect the thing and run it at full speed. The reasons are obvious on why I want the sensor connected, I also tried increasing the core voltage to 1.7 but it didnt help with the stability issues when the sensor is connected. PLEASE HELP!

from what i read, it should be your ram that's making you crash.. just increase the voltage to the ram or raise the timing.

Whats your chipset voltage? You might have to up the NB voltage if your FSB is high

Well I dont believe you can UP the NB voltage because I didnt see an option. In fact the NB has a fan but no heat sensor so that could be dangerous. I increased the Ram's voltage to 2.8 (Max), I have the system running at 3.4 so I can have the Ram in sync instead of Async. I ran prime95 and only crashed when reached 62C according to the Abit MB. I noticed that when I decrease the Core speed, the CPU seems to have more tolerance to higher temps. Does this make any sense? Shouldnt I be able to let my CPU "Actually" get to 60C (Abit 70C). I mean before with a 3.5GHZ core I can only reach 59C before it restarts. I tried to increase the core to 1.7V but didnt help and I mean ACTUALLY 1.7V not the Bios setting 1.7 which equals 1.625

So by "in sync" you mean you are running a 1:1 CPU:RAM ratio? If so, that is why you are crashing, you will need to run a 5:4 ratio with PC3200 RAM. I don't know what you were running before when you were stable. If you are running 5:4, you might try to relax your timings, and still see if you get the same problems.

Another thing, the temps isn't what is causing your system to be unstable. Your CPU doesn't just shut down at a certain magical temp. I have had 2 2.8C's and 3.5 is about the max they will run at that kind of voltage (1.65v). My M0 will do 3.6 @ 1.65v but it takes 1.65 to run @ 3.5 also. My previous D1 would run @ 3.5 with about 1.675v, and no less. So don't just assume that you are giving the processor enough voltage.

Problem is the timings ARE relaxed because they came that way which makes me conclude I should definately get better ram (3-3-3-8). With the "Value Select" Corsair ram I was running it ASNYC and was able to get to 3.5GHZ with 1.65V. With this ram I can't get to 3.5 whether or not it's in sync or not. I mean I can get it to 3.5 ASYNC but it crashes prime. So I just reduced it to 3.4GHZ so it was SYNC but it still has some problems even though it passed prime, it some times gets bitchy. If you read what I posted correctly I said I increased the CPU to ACTUALLY 1.7V and it still didnt fix anything. I am running the system with 1.65 when I try to overclock because apparently 1.7 doesnt help and when I mean 1.65 and 1.7 I mean ACTUALLY those voltage readings. Sighs I dont know what to do, it seems like my system is just not a good overclocker or my ram just sucks. I mean I run the ram ASYNC (200MHZ) and it still "seems" to be crashing the system but I can only assume. I'm planning on returning the ram anyways but I'm still hesitant. IS CMX512-3200S ram any good? Has anyone had any luck in sucessfully O.Cing with this ram because it seems to me it doesnt overclock well despite the fact it's ASYNC running at 200MHZ. Otherwise please some one recommend me to some better ram. SIGHS

I just use some PC4000 HyperX and run it @ DDR520 (FSB260) with no problems. Get away from PC3200, especially if you can only run at those high timings.

make sure you have proper actual vdimm readings and that the cas latencies are set to the recommended cas settings, if that don't work try spd or looser settings.

the memory could also be bad or just not able to hold it's advertised latencies (could be fixed with a slight voltage bump or just RMA it if it can't do it at the default with appropriate settings)

2.85v vdimm seems to be pretty much accepted around here for over 200mhz overclocks in most cases
but it looks like you got it overclocked by a good amount already

good luck
