Alright, so heres the deal: I was playing EVE Online yesterday when my computer randomly shut off...it wouldnt turn back on.

First off, here my build:

AMD 64 X2 4600+
ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe mobo
2 GB Corsair XMS
160GB Seagate Barracuda
EVGA 6600GT
500w Fortron Blue storm PSU
Creative Xfi Platiunum sound card

So once my PC turned off, i try to turn it back on with no response. The green light on my mobo is on, so i guess power is going to it, but when i push the button (the first time after i plug in a PSU), the fans and lights flicker, but nothing happens.

So heres what im thinking, It cant be the HD, Video card, or sound card, because even without those, the computer would still turn on.

I found another PSU lying around (450w i think) and I tired to use it, but the same thing happened, so I think my PSU is okay. So that leaves the CPU, mobo, and RAM.

This ASUS mobo I have sucks ****; ive had to send it in 3 or 4 times in the past 3 years. (DONT BY ASUS BOARDS)

So any ideas? I doubt it is my CPU, but I have a AMD 64 3200+ around here somewhere, so ill try to fit that in and see what happens. Has anyone else had this happen? If its the mobo, instead of sending it back, ill probably snap it over my knee and by a new one...im really fed up with this ASUS bull****

Well, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks everyone!!

Have a look at your mobo for bulging capacitors - that seems to be the fashion nowadays.

Try unhooking all your hardware except cpu/fan and case speaker and psu.
Do you get any beeps?

If not, it is most likely cpu or mobo that is deader
