Computer Randomly Restarting

I know someone else has a post similar to this, but I feel that my situation is a little different, so please bear with me.

Just this morning as I was laying in bed, I heard my computer randomly restart. I just left it and stayed in bed, and then heard it randomly restart again.

Then, throughout the day, when my computer had been left alone for maybe about 10 minutes and the screen had turned black, it would randomly restart.

Anyone know what might be causing this? I don't feel like it is bad memory, harddrive, cpu, or anything like, but who knows. It's just odd that it's not restarting on me while I'm using the computer. It just did it a couple of minutes ago while I was reading a book, but I started it back up, have been on it for about 15 minutes, and it's working fine.

So could it be a windows setting of some sort?

Hmmm, I hate problems like that they are extremely hard to figure out. I have experienced random reboots from overclocked/bad memory. One thing you can do to provide more information would be in the system properties in the control panel. On the advanced tab click settings under the startup and recovery heading. On that page you will see a box labeled automatically restart. Unchecking that box will make it so that your computer will display an error and/or not restart when that event occurs. It might allow you to gain more information on what is wrong.

Well I unchecked that box but have yet to test it out. I will try that when i get back home.

But another interesting thing happened last night. I turned my computer off before I went to bed, but I think I left a left the monitor turned on (the ligh by the power switch was yellow, not green, so the screen was black). Anyways, sometime during the night, my monitor kept making this clicking noise, like the sound it makes when the computer turns on and you have can hear the monitor click to start showing the picture. Anyways, it kept clicking like on and off, so I eventually just turned off the surge protector.

But any ideas why this would happen? It didn't sound like the computer was starting up, so why would my monitor be doing that? Something weird has been going on lately.
