My friends computer that has an Asrock mobo, 2200+ with 1 gb of ram is getting errors when installing programs from cds and cd images. I just helped him reinstall Win XP hoping to clear away some of the errors but now he is unable to install any program even from a fresh cd image to see if his two cd drives are messed up. I also ran Prime95 and it got an error within the first minute. The cpu and ram are running at defult speeds. What could be causing the errors? I did have to try installing XP two times before it got through the driver detection part without showing a error message.

CRC Error when installing RavenShield or any other game like UT2004, Prime95 error is FATAL ERROR: Resulting sum was 1.102047211477268e+017, expected: 1.102047220235091e+017 Hardware Failure detected.

CRC error is usually a bad disc but could be a bad reader/ide/etc. ..you erroring out in Prime95 suggests you need to use memtest for further checking of the ram..preferably 1 module at a time..gl
