Computer Preformance Drastically Decreased

I'm running a 733 mhz, 384 ram Windows XP computer, which is alright for me. I had a geforce 4 card in, and went to install a new sound card. I bought a Soundblaster Audigy, and without realizing it I had overused my internal power supply. My computer became very sluggish and games slowed down to an unplayable level. I have since removed the sound card, gone as far as taking out the geforce 4 and downsizing to the geforce 2, but the system remains sluggish. What's causing it to preform so bad?

Your power supply is not to blaim for sluggishness, I am running a lot of crap and XP on a 200Watt supply with out problems. I to however, am experiencing problems similar to yours, for me, 850MHz, 512MB RAM, and XP Pro. I just think that XP just like all of its predecessors occasionaly needs what should I call, an enema. Format and reinstall the OS, that always fixed 98 and I'll bet it'll work on XP I'm just getting ready to do that. Its a real pain but whatever.
