No budget eh?

Koolance PC3-725 (water-cooled:))
PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI-PFC 510W
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
Athlon 64 X2 4800+
2x1GB OCZ El Platinum Rev. 2
2 eVGA 7800GTX KO's for SLI
74GB WD Raptor
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 500GB
Some DVD-ROM (Plextor is nice)
Some DVD+/-RW (Plextor)

But, if you don't wanna spend roughly $3800 on a system (not including monitor, keyboard, mouse, or OS), than I would recommend one of the setups described above.

Haha. The system I recommended above was being a bit conservative becuase otherwise I'd be getting into the 4-5 grand range :)

Dual Opteron 280s on a Tyan K8WE for the win!

PC Power and Cooling - Turbo-cool 850 SSI'
Whichever case that can take SSI ETX 12x13" that floats your boat.

Tyan - K8WE S2895A2NRF
2x AMD - OSA280CBBOX or 2x AMD - OSA254BLBOX
4x Corsair - CM72SD1024RLP-3200

3ware 9550SX-16ML
How much space do you want? Up to 14 Seagate 7200.9 in RAID5/6

2x BenQ 1640 + Abit SERILLEL2

For vid card, do you plan on 3D modeling? Quadro FX 4500 SLI is what you want, otherwise just get the fastest 7800 SLI combo you can find.

WOW with something that high, wait till the socket M2 comes out and get the FX-60. I think that one will be M2. Get two 7800 GTX Ultras when it comes out (higher clocks, 512 MB Memory). Get 2 2gb sticks of RAM, get a DFI NF4 SLI-DR board (if you go socket 939, FX-57 that is), X-Fi Elite Pro Sound Card, Thermaltake Tai Chi case, 4-8 Raptor 74GB drives. That should be pretty much the absolute best stuff you could get.

no budget? here u go:
cpu: fx-57
gpu: sli BFG 7800GTX
ram: 4gb g.skill
mobo: anything better than a DFI?
hard drive: u320 146gb 15,000RPM SCSI RAID setup
optical drive: a regular dvd-burner would do.

realistically? get this:
cpu: amd 3700 san diego
gpu: depends on ur actual budget. anything from an x800gto2 - 7800gtx
ram: 2gb of value ram or the good OCZ ram
mobo: still dfi. if a budget, ASRock
hard drive: sata II drive 250gb
dvd-burner

Actually The Coolermaster STC-T01 Stacker case can handle the size of the 850SSI with no problem!! :)

The motherboard is the issue, not the PSU. The K8WE is 12"x13"
