I was looking at ebay and some people selling there things here. Well, ebay prices are cheaper and of course they get hit with fees....Shouldn't stuff here be cheaper than ebay?

Are you looking at the shipping too? Ebay shipping is usually very expensive. People put the price lower and put the shipping higher.

I'll actually try to help.

People in our FS/FT section do set their prices higher than ebay. That is for sure. The biggest reason is you have almost no chance of getting scammed here. The mods in that forum put up with zero bullshit from sellers.

People here also tend to take better care of their stuff than your average person. Everything I have every bought on here comes looking like brand new. Even a 2 year old video card will usually have the box and manual.

Then there is the root of the problem. A lot of people here are early adopters. They buy stuff brand new and pay the price for it. So someone selling a video card here may have paid $400 for it a year ago but now its selling for $250 brand new. The seller sees that as a $150 hit. Whereas people on ebay more than likely just bought that card wholesale at $220 and are making a $30 profit. Its a lot hard to take a loss than it is to make a small profit.

Only search for sold items on eBay to get a better idea of what people are willing to pay for something.

Some people do price themselves out of sales. I believe its for the reason I mentioned above.

Its something I factor in when I'm looking for something. I have 100% confidence buying here. Ebay is my last resort.

I have always seen same or higher price (when shipping in included) for new items. Used ones are a different game ofcourse. OP needs to provide examples, he might be talking cables and adapters sold from China and HK.

cell phone prices are a good example. i needed to purchase two newer model phones and i was getting highballed $50-100 more than what i could find them for off of ebay or craigslist.

honestly, i find myself making fewer and fewer purchases here every year :/
