Computer on the TV set

My parents just bought a big LCD TV set. I was snooping at all the video connections in the back and there appears to be a connection for my computer.

Can I play games with my computer displayed on the TV?

 
Yes. I've done it with my Media/File Server, although I prefer normal monitors; however, that's because my HDTV is a DLP rather than a LCD HDTV.

I have a LCD TV. I think it's a HDTV. It supports 1080i or p (I can't remember). 720, etc.

Do I have a HDTV?


Also, can the TV display lower resolutions?

720p and 1080i are both HD.

Your LCD is probably 1280x720p or more likely 1366x768p.

Your set is probably HD, but it's also possible that it is not and it only accepts those input types and scales them down to a lower resolution (if it's en EDTV etc.)

All the inputs resolutions are going to be scaled to the native resolution of the display but sending it a resolution of 720p or 1366x768 (or close to it) is probably going to be your best bet to keep things close to native resolution.

I'm assuming the latter as well. I don't think I've ever seen a 1280x720 LCD TV. I'm not too sure why... since both resolutions are 16x9...

My 27" 720p ViewSonic N2750 is 1280x720, but the 32" and larger 720p models are 1366x768. Panel size?
 
but since its a big screen with not so high resolution... will the pixel pitch be way to big so it will make gaming kinda not so good looking?

Tigerstyle y dont u give it a try instead of waiting for us to answer.... U definitly can use it as a monitor but its all about how it looks like in gaming
