Hey guys, my sister came to me yesterday with a problem she is having with a computer I built her last year. While she was on it, the entire machine completely turned of out of no where. She said there was no storm of any kind outside. Now when we go to start it up, there is no picture on the monitor. The computer itself sounds like it is booting normally though. To troubleshoot this I did the following:
tried a AGP card(hers is onboard video)- still no picture
barebones boot up(just the RAM and processor installed) - still no picture
Different power supply- no picture
Cleared the CMos
So now I am left with it either being the MB or the CPU, neither of which I was able to test with another part. I'm not sure which part to go buy to test with, I would hate to have to buy both just to troubleshoot it.
I've never seen a computer not post at all with just basic parts installed unless it was overclocked.
Heres the specs to the best of my memory, its been a while since I made it...
Gigabyte Socket A board w/everything onboard
Sempron 2400+
Ocz value ram 2700
100gb Western digital HD
This is her college PC so I am trying to get it fixed asap, any help or reccomendations would be great!
Thanks,
