yesterday I took off old heatsink and I put on an sk6, and then when I attempted to boot the computer it wouldn't post.
I reseated the ram, and my video card, then I tried again and again it wouldn't post.
I brought my processor to the company I brought it from and they tested it and it posted fine, but when I brought it back, again it wouldn't post.
whenever I turn it on I get 3 VERY long beeps, the fans all run, and then after the beeps end, it shuts itself off.
I took the processor out, and then it posted, so I'm beginning to believe it's the motherboard but what would cause that?

In a few I'm going to try my athlon xp in it, but I think I'll get the same results, any help would be appreciated, thanks =)

Athlon 1ghz 266mhz
Abit KT7A-Raid
Hercules Geforce 3
256MB PC-133, Micron
Hercules Gametheater XP

Have you looked in your mobo manual to see what "3 VERY long beeps" mean?

I hadn't looked in the manual, but when I was in class (studying for a+) my teacher and I looked through the beeps for my bios, and it didn't even list 3 long beeps.

I'm looking now and it only mentions the post in one paragraph extremely briefly and doesn't go in depth on the beeps themselves =/
