Computer not booting...

I'm trying to fix my girlfriend's computer, a pre-built eMachines something or other. It was purchased around 2.5 years ago. Last week, the dang thing just stopped booting. Completely. I get a light on the mobo when plugged in, but cannot get even a fan to spin up. The mobo's an Intel D845EPI/D845GVSR, CPU is a Celeron D something or other.

I took it out of the case and tried booting with just mobo, PSU, and CPU: nothing. Swapped the PSU, swapped the front switch (no mobo switches), still nothing. I don't have a spare mobo or processor to swap out, unfortunately.

And I know it's tempting to suggest "Throw the damn thing out." That's what I want to do. I don't think it's in the budget to get a new system in the near future though, so it would be in everyone's best interest if this thing is fixed (if it's even possible).

Any ideas?

Have you inspected the motherboard for any bad caps?
(this particular model/e-machine is a known affected model)

Yes, inspected for bad caps, couldn't find any. I suppose I'll go over them again, but I don't think I missed anything.

You tried booting with just mobo PSU and CPU? Did you forget to have the ram in there as well? Either way if you tried another PSU and no fans will spin up then it's probrably a dead mobo.
