Hey there,

My computer crashed this morning and when I restarted it, it was not able to POST. I hear no beeps, the computer doesn't even reach the beginning of posting. I hear the fans and drives power on and then the computer reboots. After 3 or 4 seconds, the components start up again then die. This cycle repeats endlessly.

Things I have tried to resolve this problem -

1. Cleaned and reapplied the thermal compound to my CPU.
2. Reconnected/reseated all of the peripherals.
3. Took the Mobo out of the case and tried to boot it up thinking there could be a short/grounding issue.

The next step I am plan on taking is to go out and purchase a new Mobo/CPU. Does anyone have any advice before I go ahead and purchase the items?

Thanks so much for your time.

I doubt it's your processor, the odds of that are very slim. Try removing the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes with the power unplugged from your pc.

If you still get nothing after putting the battery back in, then it's more than likely that your motherboard went south.
