Hey everyone,

i have a PC i built around 5 years ago and ill be honest i cant remember what CPU i have in it, i think its a Intel Duel Core, Mother Board is a ga-p35c-ds3r graphics card is a nVidia GeForce 8800gts. Around 2 years ago i replaced my power supply since then it had intermittent issues were it was like the PC had 0 power, the reason i knew when it was working again would be i have a HerculesRMX DJ Controller which is powered by USB and its lights would flash when receiving power. When it worked it was fine and wouldnt go off it was kinda random and since it had no ill effects i left well alone. 3 days ago it did it again and it would not come on. My herculesRMX began to flash so i turned it on. Now here is were my problem is

When i turn my pc on it starts up all the fans kick in for around 6 seconds then the pc turns its self off. then it comes back on and stays on. My monitor does not come on what so ever, i have tried re seating the graphics card and ram to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas i would greatly appreciate it

Did the monitor itself die? When you disconnect the video cable from the PC, does the monitor display the "Cable disconnected" message?

No change it doesnt even come on lol, but the monitor def works its just the pc
Ive also re seated the graphics card and nothing its strange
Im not 100% sure but i think my CPU fan is running slower 😵 Dunno if thats just age or what.

Any recommendations ive been weighing up i think its either my Graphics card or the MB..... do i buy a combined or buy seperate

You need to check that the monitor works somehow. Try it on another PC if possible, or try another monitor with this PC.

Once the monitor is ruled out, then it's very likely to be the 8800 GTS. They were notorious for failing due to "bumpgate". Here's one forum member who revived his 8800 GTS with the "oven trick".

Sounds like a faulty PSU to me. When you replaced it a couple of a years ago what did you get? Could be MoBo as well. See if there are any bulging capacitors (or busted 😱).

Edit: If you do have to get a new PSU, here's what you probably need unless you have large aspirations of big upgrades in the future. Otherwise 500W should be ample for your current parts and anything you throw in there in the next 10 years.
