After a format and a fresh install of windows 2000 I realised to my horror that I forgot to turn off ACPI at install. (again! ) So naturally I had bout 7 devices on IRQ 11. Surprisingly stable but still some horrific crashes. Anyway after much trouble I shut the darn thing off and all looked good, total stability back. But now when I shut down I get the message 'Its now safe to turn off your computer' instead of it switching off automatically. Not too bad if it werent for the fact that my power button also does ah heck all in windows so I have to reboot to BIOS to switch it off!!! I've done this to my system before and had no problems with shutdown, what have I missed? cheers?
and don't say fiddle with BIOS I have a KT7-RAID theres nothing you can do to ACPI with it.
