Couldn't figure this out so do any of you have an idea? A guy's computer in my dorm no longer boots; this just started happening. When the system is turned on, the monitor gets no signal. Already checked the monitor cable, reconnected it a couple times and it produced no positive effects. Reseated video card and that did nothing. Tried my video card and that did nothing. I checked his cpu, that still works. Also, the case LEDs are no longer working nor does it beep like it used to when powering up. However, his HS fans are working which are connected to the mb. Here is the system config:

Aopen K72
K7-600
256MB RAM
GeForce vid card
Netgear FA310TX
SB Live
SCSI card - not sure what kind

Nothing is overclocked.

Thanks.

Does the HD spin up when the power is turned on? Have you tried a different monitor? With that, cam you get to bios? What about POST errors?

On a lot of computers, the best way to get no output is to get rid of all of the RAM. Have you reseated it? Is it 1 256MB DIMM, or multiples? If it's multiples, you could try booting with different DIMMS removed.

There's a ton of stuff to try...you didn't give a lot of information.

The system does not even POST. RAM is 1 x 256MB DIMM. Hard drive spins up. Can't get to BIOS because no video output. Lights on NIC work too if that tells anything.

Will try reseating RAM and different monitor.

Thanks.

Lights on NIC says that it's getting power ^_-

Just because the MB has power, doesn't mean it works.

Is the system under warranty?

If you pull the dimm and power up the system - does it beep then? If it doesn't then it is a bad MB. Sounds reasonably new - should still be under warranty.
