Computer makes clicking noise, monitor dims.

Hey guys, looking for some help.

Recently my computer has been making sort of a sparking sound at very random times. When this happens, the monitor goes a bit dark (imagine turning the contrast all the way down). The sound isn't constant, it's a single "click" at the same time the monitor dims. This

I haven't been able to locate a pattern, or which part of the computer was making the click/sparking noise. I do know however that it is coming from the case, and not the monitor. I'm not even sure where to start looking. Any ideas?

I would suspect it has to do with the power source, as in a faulty plug (either the wall one or the surge protector you should be using) or a bad ground line. Furthermore, it could be a bad transformer at your home or just bad power service in general (would be obvious with house lights dimming randomly from brown outs or surges).

If it was your computer, I would say it would most definately be your PSU, but I would suspect it being the fault of a cheapo surge protector or bad ground line before anything else.
