computer lockup

I have a p5b deluxe with an e6400 oc'd. The fsb is 400 and my ram is 400. 8 multyplier.

I was running at 1.34v but my computer started locking up. So, I boosted to 1.375 and I was stable for a while but then I locked up again. So I have it boosted up to 1.4 now. My temps are fine. Way under 60C at full load.

I put my ram through memtest 86 for 12 hours. It passed test 5 over 500 times.

My question is: is a lockup always tied to the cpu not getting enough power? Could there be another reason this is happening?

Just out of curiousity, can you explain why lowering the overclock would be better than increasing voltage? Shouldnt the chip be able to handle the speed given it has enough voltage? At 1.4v I'm not in the danger zone and my computer is only at 52C under full orthos

You're correct. Asus boards are also well-known for their undervolting. You're likely giving your processor ~1.36v, not 1.40v.
