Every once in a while my computer locks up when booting .. the last thing on the screen is my processor speed and how much memory I have would be next. I have to use the reset button because ctrl+alt+delete doesn't work. It doesn't happen very often but I am wondering if it could get worse. Any ideas what could be causing this problem?

What is your config ? How big is your PSU ? I have even had times when a computer works find at my house, doesn't somewhere else, then I replace the PSU, and it works everywhere. Without a better VOM that just a radio shack cheapie, I am guessing the voltage is better at my house than other places, and/or the fluctuation is less.

could be processor overheat, chipset overheat, power output from PSU low/unstable/not enough/barely enough.

or defects in mobo or memory

I doubt it is overheat since it happens when I first turn the computer on. I have never seen the temp. reach 50 degrees C either. The power output seems to be pretty stable. I've run some memory tests and haven't had any problems.
