Computer locks up when wireless network is in use

I have a Thinkpad T22 with Windows XP Pro and an Orinoco Gold Wireless Card. Up until yesterday everything was running smoothly. Now when I try to download anything or have a few tabs open in Firefox my computer locks up (mouse wont move or anything) for about 30 seconds then it goes back to normal except my wireless card wont connect back to the network. I have to repair it through windows or remove it and put it back in for it to reconnect. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had this problem on an old (4 years) Netgear wireless card. I replaced it for another one and everything worked just fine. However mine got to the point where it also made the screen flicker. I am going to assume it has something to do with the card being damaged in some way and drawing too many resources.

I'd try first to RMA it and see if that doesn't fix things.

It must be the hardware that cause the problem. I would spend $20 for another card as the price is really going down on this stuffs lately.

Newegg presents a couple of cheap options when you search for "wireless card".

You could go USB, or PCMCIA. I've got a USB "stick" style wireless adapter that has served me FAR better than the PCMCIA card I used to have.
