Computer locks up when accessing non-RAID drive on KT7-RAID mobo

First, let's look at my system (or what's important of my system for this problem...):

Abit KT7-RAID (UL BIOS)
2*IBM ATA100GXP75 30GB in RAID0 (IDE3 & 4 masters)
1*IBM (don't remember model name) ATA66 18GB (IDE1 master)
1*Seagate (still don't remember mod.) ATA33 9.1GB in a mobile rack (IDE3 slave)
Adaptec AHA-2940AU SCSI adapter
Plextor UltraPlex 40Max SCSI CDROM
Teac CD-R55S SCSI CD-R
Windows 98SE
VIA 4in1 4.25a

The problem: whenever I use the RAID array and the Seagate in the mobile rack at the same time, my computer locks up after about 10 seconds. It's enough to try to create a directory on one while the other is working, it locks up every time. Very annoying.

Does anybody else have this problem? It would be great to find a way to avoid it (the computer is on a 50-computer LAN, and most of my files are shared on the RAID array. Imagine what happens when someone accesses my computer while the Seagate drive is working...).

I had a similar problem with Abit Bp6 and the onboard HPT 366 controller. It was (and still is) a compatibility problem between my IBM DTLA 30745 and Higpoint's controller.

I tried to run it under NT 4.0 but even when I tried to copy from one partition to the other on the same drive the system hook up.

Sorry, I did not solve the problem without buying a new Promise ATA 100 controller which works fine.

P.S. Maybe someday there will be new drivers for the HPT366 (or your HPT370) supporting the drives. (If this is also YOUR problem)
